Dental Students
Selective Description:
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic UCLA’s Infant Oral Care Program Selective will provide a 10-week online course for 3rd and 4th year dental students. The course includes readings, training, virtual patient visits, and weekly live sessions.
Objectives:
On successful completion of this course, dental students will be able to:
Prerequisites & Requirements:
The following are prerequisites and requirements to participate in the Infant Oral Health Selective:
1) Students must have completed with a passing grade or be currently enrolled in good standing in the following courses:
a. RFE218 Introduction to Clinical Pediatric Dentistry (Preclinical Pediatric Dentistry Lab Course)
b. GDA 200 Infancy to Adolescence
2). Students must submit an application through e-mail that includes:
a. A short essay on your interest in pediatric dentistry and how you will use the IOCP experience to further your professional practice.
b. Resume/CV (uploaded as "LastnameCV.doc" or "LastnameCV.pdf")
c. Permission in writing from students’ Group Practice Director indicating that they are allowed to participate in the Infant Oral Care
Selective (uploaded as "LastnamePermission.doc")
d. Verify that you have no interference with other scheduled rotations by indicating on the attached document each Wednesday
throughout the next four quarters when they are already scheduled to attend a different rotation (uploaded as
"LastnameSchedule.doc").

After submitting a completed application via email, your application will be reviewed.
After selective acceptance, you will be contacted via email.

- Identify white spot lesions;
- Understand social determinants of health and how to assist families in overcoming barriers;
- Increase understanding of the role public health plays in pediatric dentistry;
- Appreciate the ethical responsibility of dental professionals for the oral health of the whole community.
